A Finnish favorite bred for cold climates, Hinnonmaki Red is a compact, heavy-bearing gooseberry that combines disease resistance with excellent flavor. Berries are small to medium, deep red, and uniquely aromatic—sweet with a zingy finish. Good for fresh snacking, tarts, or freezing for winter use. High in vitamin C, potassium, and anthocyanins. These nutrients help boost immune function and cellular repair. Bushes are low-growing and thorny, making them great for hedgerows or low fruiting borders. Ripens early to midseason. Very hardy to zone 3.
