Densely clustering berries with a sweet tart flavor hinting at blueberries and grapes with unique musky undertones. Even the foliage has a trademark sweet musk odor that almost anyone finds quite lovely. Resistant to white pine blister rust, very cold hardy. Benefits from pruning every few years once full size. Berries from this variety are regularly used to make wines, jams, juices, and raisins. Benefits from afternoon shade.
Black currants and black currant extract have been used in medications since the middle ages or before, because black currants are essentially a superfood, containing TONS of vitamin C, potassium, calcium, and iron which up to 1 in 3 American adults are low on, leading to fatigue, brain fog, and other health issues as iron is necessary to carry oxygen through the blood to the rest of the body.
