Chicago Hardy Fig

One of the most cold-hardy figs available, Chicago Hardy is a favorite for growers in northern zones who still want a dependable fig harvest. It produces medium-sized, mahogany-skinned fruits with deep strawberry-red flesh and rich, sweet flavor. This variety is especially reliable because it sets fruit on both new and old wood, meaning even after winter dieback it will regrow and fruit the same year. Rich in calcium, fiber, and magnesium, figs support bone and heart health, while offering a low-glycemic, satisfying sweetness. Performs well in containers or in-ground with winter protection like heavy mulching for the first year or two.
